We are already one month in to the year 2020 and we are on the precipice of a very exciting February! Of course there is always a flurry of proposals on valentines day, but this year we have the added excitement of leap year proposals … Are you one of the gals planning to get down on one knee? With all the excitement ahead, we thought we’d round up some of the biggest wedding trends for 2020 and get you on your way to planning straight after hearing that resounding yes!

There are lots of unique wedding trends to get on board with this year so let’s start with number one …

Statement veils

Wedding veils are a wedding tradition dating back as far as the Roman period, with a resurgence in popularity happening after Queen Victoria’s wedding to Prince Albert in 1840. We are seeing a shift in wedding veil trends for 2020 towards cathedral length veils, embroidered detailing and even personalised veils like this stunning example from Agnes Heart on Etsy

Transformations

More and more brides are looking for a transformation in their look for day to night and it can be much more achievable than you think! No need to buy two wedding dresses, take a look at detachable trains, wow accessories or a change of veil.

Bridal accessories

Personalised is big in bridal accessories for 2020 too. With jackets also becoming increasingly more popular this year, why not combine the two trends and incorporate a personalised wedding jacket! We love this wifey featured in our festival photoshoot last year by Sammy Lea’s Retro Emporium. Jackets can be personalised with whatever you like, let your imagination run free!

Regal

We love the Regal theme that is becoming more popular this year. Romantic and princess wedding dresses are proving incredibly popular. Sleeves have been in the limelight for a while now but this year we’re seeing a shift towards more blousy and fluted sleeves. We’re also seeing an increase in glitter tulle and sparkle shirts… here are a few wedding dresses we love from our rails here at Gatehouse Brides.
