Winter can be such a hard time for our skin, and winter brides preparing for a winter wedding can often feel frustrated with the changes to their skin when wanting to feel at their very best for their big day. SO we thought we’d put together a few top tips for making sure that you winter brides still get that gorgeous bridal glow.
1. Hydration, Hydration, Hydration
I know, I know… we hear this all the time, drink more water! But in these winter months, when you are moving between the cold outdoors into warm, centrally heated homes, our skin is the first to suffer and needs to be kept hydrated from the inside as well as the outside.
The NHS advise we should be drinking 6-8 glasses of water every day (around 1.2litres). Despite perhaps feeling less thirsty during the winter months due to losing less water through sweat for example, it is still extremely important to maintain this intake. So our number one top tip is keep sipping!
2. Exfoliate
We all know about exfoliating our bodies, but how many of us actually exfoliate our face? Well we should be!
Exfoliation removes dullness caused by dead skin cells and should absolutely be incorporated into our beauty regime.
There are a number of exfoliants that can be used on the face, tools such as facial dermaplaners, scrubs, pads and even gentle acid peels such as The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid 10% + HA available from Selfridges in Birmingham… £5.80 for 30ml.
3. Moisturise With Oils
This may sound a little scary to some of you, we completely understand, but bear with us!
Specially formulated skin, body and hair oils can really help replenish the moisture our skin loses through the seasons and is a fabulous way to upgrade your beauty routine. We personally love the Dr Botanicals Japanese Orange Superfood Facial Oil available from Harvey Nichols in Birmingham. Beautifully light and nourishing with a scent to die for. It is also currently on sale, down from £29.99 to just £14.99 for 30ml!!
4. Park The Powder
As tempting as it may be to dust your face with a favourite bronzer to warm your skin tone up during the winter months, this won’t be doing much for your poor skin. Instead, opt for an illuminating foundation to give your face a dewy glow.
We love Nars sheer glow foundation available for £33.50 from John Lewis in Birmingham. This satin finish foundation also has skincare benefits leaving your skin brighter, more hydrated, softer and smoother.
5. Pull Out The Pearls
Pearls have always been a bridal favourite, but for you winter brides, they can pack a real punch! According to Brad Goreski as quoted on Instyle – pearls “reflect light and bring out the luminous qualities of your skin,”
We have a gorgeous range of bridal accessories including many featuring pearls, and we’d love to invite you into the boutique for an accessories appointment for you to go through and see what could finish off your bridal look perfectly.
If you’re a winter bride and are yet to find the wedding dress of your dreams, we would love to welcome you into our bridal boutique in Worcester, just a few miles outside of Birmingham. Pop on over to our appointment request page or give us a call on 01905 28287. We can’t wait to meet you!
